Woh Din Yaad Karo – 1971 – K.Amarnath

“Woh Din Yaad Karo” – released in 1971, starred Nanda, Sanjay (Khan), Mehmood, Shashikala etc.

Originally Nutan and Sanjay were signed as the lead stars. Nutan was very eager to act once again in my dad’s movie, years after the 1953 hit movie “Laila Majnu”.

A full-page ad appeared in the newspaper “Screen” on January 1^st, 1965 – and Sanjay, who had acted in minor roles only prior to being signed as a hero by K. Amarnath, shot into the limelight overnight. (See the ad below)

Unfortunately, the movie got delayed resulting in actress Nutan not have any free dates available for shooting – so Nanda replaced her as the heroine of the movie.

Actor Mehmood who was supposed to have acted in the movie “Bada Bhai” 1957 – (that is another story!!) finally got the chance he wanted – to act in one of K. Amarnath’s movies. And in my opinion, I think he stole the show.

Actress Shashikala who had acted in “Sarkaar” – 1951 once again acted in my dad’s movie after 20 years.

Singer Talat Mahmood, who had given some memorable songs for my dad’s past movies – sang once again with Lata Mangeshkar in the song titled “Mohabbat ki Kahaniyan” – lyrics were penned by Anand Bakshi. This is the only song Talat Mahmood ever sang for music directors Laxmikant-Pyarelal. (See picture below)

Sanjay Khan’s first film signed as a hero was “Woh Din Yaad Karo”.
He was signed in January 1965 – but the shooting got delayed due to unforeseen circumstances.
The movie was later completed & released in 1971.
